My heart is heavy to tell you that my mother, Zena Rommett died on November 10th at 1:26 pm.  I was blessed to be with her; to hold her hand and let her know how many people she helped and loved her, and that I would keep her legacy going strong.

In August 2010, Zena gave a master class at Dance Teacher Summit attended by over 300 teachers.  On August 12, 13, 14 and 15 she did her annual Floor-Barre® Certification Seminar attended by participants from around the world.  It was an amazing four days. The day after she was hospitalized and she just got weaker.  She had been battling cancer since 2007.  At 90, her mind was sharp.  She was in hospice care and at 90 kept telling me, ‘I am not like these old people, I have to get back to my work”. Her students were her inspiration.

Whether you bought Zena’s DVD and listen to her voice, took classes in the sixties, 2010 or  the certification you took part in her legacy.  And for that, you are precious to us.

Zena is survived by a sister, Lilias, two daughters; Melissa and myself; two grandsons, Alexis and Austin; and two great-granddaughters, Zena (8/28/08) and Camila (4/1/12).
