The Mission of the Zena Rommett Floor-Barre Foundation is to preserve and promote the highly regarded Floor-Barre® Technique for current and future generations of dancers, athletes, the injured, elderly and everyone desiring the alignment and strengthening health benefits of this gentle, yet highly effective Technique. This is accomplished through the teaching of classes, the production of DVDs and educational materials, and the certification of Floor-Barre® instructors every July in Europe (Florence '12 & '13; Venice '14 & '15; Paris '16 & '17; Rome '18 & '19), every August in New York City and every February in Latin America (Playa del Carmen, Mexico '18 & '19).
Linda Celeste Sims, 2017 Dance Magazine Award Winner & Alvin Ailey Soloist, begins every day with 20 minutes of a Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® DVD. Sim says, “Zena’s work helps me build flexibility and strength.”
DR. PHILLIP A. BAUMAN
“I am an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of professional ballet dancers for New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® has been a foundation for rehabilitation and injury prevention of many of my patients who are professional ballet dancers.”
CHOREOGRAPHER & DANCER
“There is not a dancer I know who will not acknowledge the freedom they have gained after a brief study of this Technique. Based on the simple truth of the anatomy, Zena Rommett Floor-Barre is in perfect harmony with the physical expectations of ballet or modern dance.”
ACTRESS & PRODUCER
FORMER ALVIN AILEY PRINCIPAL DANCER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
“I try to start my day with a chapter of the Bible and a Floor-Barre. It’s something I learned to do because I come from a family that has great faith. From the Bible I can give myself strength and comfort to begin my day. And the Floor-Barre is to get my body in order. As therapy I had to take Floor-Barre from a marvelous woman named Zena Rommett. I relearned how to work correctly, then I went to the barre stood up and everything aligned and adjusted. And then I came to the center floor, I regained a very correct way of moving and Zena got me back on my feet again.
Zena has saved so many dancers from future injury.”
OLYMPIC ICE SKATER
“Based on ballet, Floor-Barre creates long, exquisite lines.
Every ice skater should take Floor-Barre."
ACTOR, DANCER SINGER & SONG WRITE
"Zena's videos are fantastic."
